A message from our Church.

"The preaching and prayers of our Minister are helpful in times of need and bring us closer to the love of God."

Revd. Martin Ambler BASize is not everything but Richmond Hill is the largest church building in Bournemouth with a capacity to seat nearly 1200 people. There are occasions when the church is full to pverflowing with Guides and Scouts and Radio Solent events.
The intimate and unusual curved pews make it a cosy place in which to worship during our regular services and wedding ceremonies.

You will see that it is also very beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful Nonconformist Church in England. Our churches used to be deliberately plain - the argument was that art might detract your attention from the glory of God. Today we think otherwise. Our magnificent stained glass windows and cathedral-like structure lift up your hearts in prayer and praise.

On visiting, people comment on the warmth and friendliness of our welcome. For these and other reasons we have become one of the most popular churches to marry in. We welcome everyone and try our best to prepare and care for everyone who comes our way 'in sickness and in health'.
It cheers us further to welcome the same couples when they bring children for baptisms, as many do. We even have a special service called Early Birds to meet their needs.

Baptisms in such numbers also reassure us that Bournemouth itself is changing. It is no longer just a place for grandparents to retire to. It is getting younger by the decade, partly due to its being a centre for international banks, insurance companies and building societies.

Many of the events and activities that take place during the week ensure we get to know each other better such as the Flower Guild, the Church Tapestry Group, the Richmond Ramblers, the Literary / Musical Society and the Men and Women's Forums.

I look forward to meeting you or hearing from you either via email minister@bournemouth-urc.org.uk or by phone - 01202 290161.

Come and See !

" I need spiritual uplift and guidance for the week ahead, enabling me to communicate with people who may never go to church, but still appreciate kindness of any description. "
